Delta Beta Tau was founded in 2015 at San Diego State University as an outreach program of the Dharma Bum Temple. It started as a student organization and the only Co-Ed Buddhist Fraternity in the country. As of August 2023, Delta Beta Tau incorporated as its own 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Organization founded on the Buddhist principles of generosity, morality, patience, diligence, meditation and wisdom. In 2025, they expanded to include a young adult program so they may continue to gather for meditation and discussion post college life. 

Delta Beta Tau's objective is to introduce and strengthen the knowledge and understanding of meditation and Buddhist teachings through guest speakers, informal discussions, retreats and community service. They focus on volunteer work in an effort to bring compassion and peace through service to the community.
