Want to live at the Dharma Bum Temple? Imagine everything that happens at the Dharma Bum Temple and having the opportunity to be involved in all of it. This is an opportunity to spend 3-6 months in a full-time residential program where your life will exist inside the Dharma Bum Temple. You will not have an outside job, school, responsibilities, etc. Your days will include meditation, Dharma talks, community service, helping with day-to-day operations, providing some administrative help, and learning how to care for the Dharma Bum Temple. This is a chance to learn what it’s like to live full-time in a Temple setting. 

Monday through Friday there will be meditation at 8am, 12pm and 7pm. Saturday and Sunday will also include meditation classes and involvement in weekend programs like Day of Silence Retreats, Family Sangha, Homeless Hats: Kit and Sit, and more. There will be additional community service opportunities as well throughout the week such as the Food Redistribution Program. There will be personal time each day as well for taking a walk, rest, study, etc. You will have a private room, with access to a residential restroom, shower and laundry facilities. The room is simple and has everything you need which is a bed, closet, and desk for reading/studying. There is a full kitchen, and you will prepare your own meals.

Living in the Temple for a period of time will allow you to train your mind and create the opportunity to realize that everyday life is the way of a Buddha. Living in the Temple can provide support, structure and stability, which in time, becomes deeply internalized and integrated into one’s own experience on a spiritual path.
