HOMELESS HATS: KNIT & SIT

We meet the 1st, 3rd, and 4th Sunday of the month on Zoom at 3pm, and the 2nd Sunday of the month we meet at 12pm in-person at the Dharma Bum Temple. All are welcome, just show up!

In 2021, we started a new virtual volunteer program "Homeless Hats: Knit and Sit"! We meet every Sunday at either 3pm via Zoom or on the second Sunday of the month at 12pm-1pm in-person at the Dharma Bum Temple. The in-person meeting will also be streamed via Zoom (see website schedule). We make warm hats (beanies) to pass out to the people living on the streets of downtown San Diego. Each meeting has a brief meditation followed by knitting and joyful conversation. Not to worry, we will teach you how to make the beanies using a round, plastic loom. It is simple and fun!

We’re looking for volunteers to make hats (no knitting skills needed) and donations of supplies. We are also accepting donations of leftover yarn from DBT knitters, chunky size is preferred. It’s a great way to practice giving (Dana) and get excess yarn cleared out!

How to Help/Get Involved:

1. Join the Facebook Group for additional information and stay informed.

2. If you want to learn to make the beanies (it is simple) join us any Sunday! Click here to watch a basic video on how to loom!
