weekend rETREATS

Imagine arriving at the Dharma Bum Temple on a quiet Thursday or Friday afternoon, settling in for a two or three night personal retreat. After checking in, you might take a short walk just three blocks to Sprouts Farmers Market, either on your own or with a couple of fellow retreatants, to gather simple vegetarian foods for the weekend (unless you prefer to bring your own).
Each day begins with an 8:00am meditation, followed by the Temple’s regular schedule of classes and programs, all of which you’re invited to join. In between, there’s plenty of unstructured time to rest and reconnect whether that means reading, studying, meditating, gardening, napping, or simply wandering the peaceful grounds and enjoying the outdoor Japanese Zen Garden. You will also be trained on how to rake the Zen Garden!

You’ll be provided with your own set of dishes including a plate, bowl, mug, and utensils and you’ll prepare your own three meals each day. Accommodations include a private room, or a shared room if you’re attending with a friend or partner. Retreatants have access to two dedicated bathrooms and showers, along with a washer and dryer for laundering linens before departure.
All bedding is provided, along with some basic toiletries. You’ll just need to bring your own clothing and personal items. We ask for a contribution of $108 per night to support your stay.
