The Dharma Bum Temple proudly hosted its 16th Annual Thanksgiving Day Food Redistribution Program, continuing a long-standing tradition of community service rooted in compassion and action. Held in San Diego, the program brought together volunteers from across the community to support unhoused individuals and families in need during the holiday season.
This year’s distribution resulted in the preparation and delivery of approximately 750 sandwiches, along with emergency blankets, sleeping bags, beanies, hats, socks, feminine hygiene products, and essential toiletries. These items were provided directly to individuals experiencing homelessness, addressing immediate needs for food, warmth, and personal care.
Founded in San Diego, the Dharma Bum Temple serves as both a spiritual center and a hub for community outreach. The Thanksgiving Day Food Redistribution Program reflects the temple’s commitment to consistent, hands-on service and its belief that mindful practice extends beyond the meditation cushion into real-world action.
The success of this year’s program was made possible by the collective efforts of volunteers, donors, and community members who continue to show up year after year. Your time, generosity, and care allowed us to serve our unhoused neighbors with dignity and respect, and hosting this event for sixteen consecutive years reflects the strength, consistency, and compassion of this community!
