This past Sunday at Dharma Bum Temple, our Homeless Hats: Knit & Sit gathering was especially meaningful. With needles clicking and tea cups warming hands, we welcomed many new faces into the circle and it was beautiful to witness our community growing in both number and spirit.
What began as a simple offering knitting hats for our unhoused neighbors continues to blossom into something much deeper. Each stitch is an act of compassion. Each conversation is a thread of connection. Each hat carries not just warmth, but dignity and care.

This most recent Knit & Sit felt alive with energy. Experienced knitters patiently guided beginners. Laughter mixed with quiet focus. Some participants came because they love to knit. Others came because they wanted to serve. Many came simply seeking community. All were welcomed.
As our program grows, so does its impact. We are creating more than winter hats, we are weaving relationships, generosity, and shared purpose. The sight of new participants sitting shoulder-to-shoulder with longtime members reminds us that compassion is contagious.
At Dharma Bum Temple, we practice the wisdom of solidarity showing up for one another and for our wider community. Knit & Sit is a simple but powerful expression of that practice.
We are deeply grateful for everyone who joined us, donated yarn, shared skills, or simply brought their presence to the circle. If you’ve been curious about participating, this is your invitation. No knitting experience required, just a willingness to sit, connect, and care.

Together, one stitch at a time, we are warming more than heads. We are warming hearts.
We meet the 1st, 3rd, and 4th Sunday of the month on Zoom at 3pm, and the 2nd Sunday of the month we meet at 12pm in-person at the Dharma Bum Temple. All are welcome, just show up!
