Welcoming City College Students for Their 15th Annual Visit

On April 30th, Dharma Bum Temple was honored to once again welcome students from City College for what has now become a meaningful 15-year tradition of visiting our temple community.

We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Professors Kelly and Jim Mayhew for continuing to bring their students to Dharma Bum Temple year after year. Their commitment to creating opportunities for experiential learning, reflection, and open dialogue has helped introduce countless students to meditation practice and Buddhist teachings in a personal and accessible way.

This year’s visit included a guided meditation, thoughtful discussion, and an engaging Q&A session where students explored topics ranging from mindfulness and compassion to stress, identity, daily practice, and the role of Buddhism in modern life. The students brought curiosity, sincerity, and insightful questions that made for a truly meaningful afternoon together.

One of the most special aspects of these visits is witnessing students experience moments of stillness and reflection that are often rare in today’s fast-paced world. Sharing meditation practice together in the temple space continues to be a powerful reminder of the importance of community, presence, and authentic conversation.

Over the past 15 years, it has been a privilege to welcome City College students into the Dharma Bum Temple community, and we are deeply appreciative of the relationships and conversations that continue to grow through these annual visits.

Thank you again to Professors Kelly and Jim Mayhew, and to all of the students who joined us on April 30th. We look forward to continuing this tradition for many years to come.
