At the Dharma Bum Temple, every step we take toward restoration is guided by a deep respect for the past and a commitment to preserving the integrity of this sacred space. We’re grateful to share the completion of Phase Three of our historic window restoration project, an important milestone in honoring a building that has stood for nearly a century.

Originally constructed in 1927, the Temple carries with it a quiet dignity and architectural character that simply cannot be replicated with modern shortcuts. For this phase, we made the intentional decision to install exact replica windows, carefully crafted to match the original design down to the finest detail. This wasn’t just about replacing old windows, it was about restoring a piece of history.

We were fortunate to work with Heartwood Restoration once again, whose craftsmanship and dedication exceeded our expectations. Their team approached the project with both technical expertise and a clear reverence for the building’s heritage. The result is a seamless blend of old and new, windows that look as though they’ve been part of the Temple since its very beginning.
As we move forward, the next step will be painting the newly installed windows, and we’ll be coordinating that work with Ron Rice Painting to ensure a finish that complements the building’s historic character.
Projects like this remind us why it’s so important to stay true to the architectural integrity of a 99-year-old structure. Every detail matters. Every decision is an opportunity to either preserve or diminish the story held within these walls. By providing this level of authenticity over convenience, we are doing our part to protect the spirit of this space for future generations.

Most importantly, this work would not have been possible without the generosity of our community. To everyone who supported this project whether through donations, encouragement, or simply sharing in our vision, thank you. Your support allows us to care for this Temple in a way that honors its past while sustaining it for generations to come.
This Temple is more than a building, it is a place of practice, community, and refuge. And it is an honor to care for it with the respect it deserves.
We do have the original windows you can purchase for $108 if you want to have a part of history and support the Dharma Bum Temple. If interested, let us know.
